Magnetic whiteboards are indispensable for offices, classrooms and home study spaces. Proper care not only keeps the writing surface smooth and clear, but also greatly extends its service life. As a professional magnetic whiteboard manufacturer, Ohsung Stationery shares simple and practical cleaning and maintenance tips for our lacquered and enamel steel whiteboards.
Daily Cleaning
Use a dedicated whiteboard eraser or soft dry microfiber cloth to wipe the surface in a single direction for daily light marks, removing most dry-erase traces without residue. Wipe the board clean after each use to prevent ink from drying and hardening. Avoid rough paper towels that may scratch the steel surface.
Deep Cleaning for Stubborn Stains
For dried ink, ghosting or sticky residue, dampen a microfiber cloth with pure water or a small amount of anhydrous ethanol. Gently wipe the stained area in a circular motion, then dry the surface immediately with a dry cloth—never leave liquid on the board for long to avoid frame rust. This method works perfectly for our premium JFE enamel steel whiteboards without damaging their scratch-resistant surface.
✅ Do’s
1.Use only high-quality dry-erase markers designed for magnetic whiteboards—they ensure smooth writing and easy erasing.
2.Store the board in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and high humidity to avoid surface discoloration or frame rust.
3.For framed whiteboards, wipe the aluminum frame with a dry cloth regularly to keep it shiny and clean.
4.Use magnetic accessories (magnets, magnetic erasers) that are smooth-edged to prevent scratching the writing surface.
❌ Don’ts
1.Never use permanent markers, oil-based pens or paint on the magnetic whiteboard—these will permanently stain the surface and cannot be removed.
2.Avoid harsh cleaning products (bleach, ammonia, abrasive cleaners) as they will corrode the steel surface and destroy the magnetic layer.
3.Do not press too hard when writing or erasing—excessive force may cause the surface to deform or lose its smoothness.
4.Do not stick adhesive tape, stickers or glue on the writing surface—residue from these materials is hard to clean and will damage the board’s finish.
For long-term unused boards, clean and dry thoroughly, then cover with a soft dust cloth. Simple maintenance will maximize the performance and service life of your magnetic whiteboard. For more product details, contact our sales team anytime!
